The truth behind the multi-coloured holds!

23/6/2020

Aside from looking nice, different coloured climbing holds actually serve a purpose - to guide you as to which holds you can use to follow the intended climb.
You are able to then look at the climb (reading) prior to starting, as well as have an idea on where you are going during your climb.
Each colour of hold on a rope is worth a difficulty which is based on:
  • Size of holds
  • Distance between the next holds
  • Movements required/forced to use
  • Number of holds

So why would you want to climb a single colour rather than anything you want?
  • It is a great way to track your progress as you come more frequently
  • It is for a similar reason that you look at a weight before you lift it at the gym. You want to know you are getting better or stronger
  • It helps you to understand which climbs are too easy or too difficult for you
  • Climbing a single colour can be easier - you don't have as much to choose from while you are climbing
Now that you understand the reasoning behind climbing we can tell you what the QR codes on the sheets are.
MyClimb is an app designed for people who want to track theirs/their friends activity, complete challenges and be on our leaderboard. To log a climb, you simply scan the QR code within the app!
